After six (6) months of continuous employment, company drivers are eligible to join a 401(K) Retirement Plan offered through Texas Star Express' parent company, Epes Carriers, Inc. Employees may contribute 1% to 15% of annual earnings.

The Company will match 50% of the first 4% of the employee's contributions. Employee contributions are immediately 100% vested with Company contributions 100% vested after three (3) years of employment. Entry dates into the plan are the 1st of each quarter. A loan program is also included in the 401(K) plan.

After 90 days employment, full time employees are eligible for health insurance coverage. Coverage for Employee Only thru payroll deduction. Employees may also carry dependent health coverage thru payroll deduction.

Employees not residing within the network area have the same benefits as if care were provided by a network provider.

Pre existing conditions require a one year waiting period or proof of prior insurance.

After 90 days employment, full time employees are eligible for dental coverage.

Employees may carry dependent dental coverage through payroll deduction.

After 90 days employment, company drivers are provided $35,000 in life insurance. This benefit is provided at no cost to the employee.

After 90 days employment, company drivers are eligible for Optional Disability Insurance. The plan pays $250 per week for 11 weeks and begins on the 15th day of disability. If unable to return to work after 13 weeks, the benefit the benefit continues at $250 per week up until the end of the first year of your disability and then pays 60% of earnings, capped at $5,000.00 per month up to additional 2 years of disability.

This plan does not cover a work-related accident or illness. This plan integrates with Social Security Benefits (if applicable). This is optional insurance and is paid for by employee through Payroll Deduction.

After 90 days employment, company drivers are eligible for Optional Term Life Insurance. The following amounts are available with no evidence of insurability:

  • Up to $150,000 on the employee
  • Up to $20,000 on spouse
  • Up to $10,000 on each child
This optional insurance is paid for by employee through Payroll Deduction.

A Year Around program designed for drivers and passengers that meet requirements.

Driver Requirements:

  1. Employed/Leased as a full-time OTR driver for 30 days.
  2. Not involved in a preventable accident in last 6 months from request date.

NOTE: May have only one passenger at a time.

Spouse/Passenger Requirements:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  2. DOT, Texas Star and customer policies and procedures that pertain to passengers must be obeyed at all times.
  3. May not operate, maintain, connect or disconnect any company and/or leased equipment.
  4. May not assist in loading, unloading or securing cargo.
  5. Must wear safety restraints at all times while equipment is in motion.
  6. Persons seeking passenger authorization who are under doctor’s care for ongoing medical conditions will be required to provide medical clearance prior to authorization
Additional insurance coverage on the passenger must be obtained before authorization is given at $24.00 per calendar month.

Full time drivers who are not involved in any preventable/chargeable accidents are eligible for the Texas Star Express "Super Bowl Ring Program" upon completion of one accident free year. For each accident free year thereafter drivers qualify for a Gemstone setting.

Through Texas Star Express' parent company, Epes Carriers, a scholarship award is available to deserving children of Texas Star Express employees and owner/operators. Application is made in essay form and student must be a recent high school graduate.

Full-time road drivers who have been in continuous employment will receive paid vacation as follows:

  • After 1 year - 1 week
  • After 2 years - 2 weeks
  • After 7 years - 3 weeks
Vacation pay will be computed on drivers weekly average pay for the preceding twelve (12) months. Vacation is computed on employment anniversary - not on the calendar year.

After 90 days employment, full time employees are eligible for vision insurance.
